A video that circulated on social media showed the singer, appearing frail, being assisted out of a car and onto a stretcher before being taken into the hospital.
In response to the public’s concern, Chameleone’s management released a statement reassuring fans not to worry. They confirmed that the musician had received the best possible medical care and expressed optimism about his recover

He shared an emotional video revealing the impact of Chameleone’s struggle with alcohol addiction. Abba disclosed that his father had struggled with alcohol addiction for years and had been unable to overcome it. He appealed to Chameleone’s fans and music promoters to actively support his recovery, encouraging them to show love and express their wishes for his long-term well-being. He also criticized music promoters who continued to book the ailing singer for shows while ignoring his declining health.

“They see he’s struggling but still prioritize profits over his well-being,” Abba lamented

Abba added, “My message goes out to everyone who enjoys my father’s music, even those who might not agree with his actions or lifestyle. I recognize he is flawed, but God put us here to love and care for one another. This is a time for compassion.” Abba revealed that his father was battling acute pancreatitis, a severe condition linked to prolonged alcohol use. On December 12, Chameleone was rushed to the hospital after a sudden illness, leaving his family and fans deeply concerned about his well-being.

A few days ago, reports emerged that President Museveni had directed the State House to cover the costs of Chameleone’s treatment abroad. Minister of State for Youth and Children’s Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, confirmed this development on Saturday during a visit to the singer at NakaseroHospital.
In a message, Chameleone thanked the president for his continued support during his health struggles. He mentioned that the president had generously covered his medical expenses in the United States last year.

“I’m not sure if you recall, but when I first fell ill, you sent me money for my treatment. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to personally thank you,”
Chameleone said. As a gesture of gratitude, Chameleone pledged his unwavering support for
the president during the upcoming election season, which is set to begin next year.
“I’m going away to get my engine repaired, but once I return, I will stand by you every step of the way,” he added.

Chameleone is currently battling pancreatitis, a condition marked by the inflammation of the pancreas, a crucial gland for producing digestive enzymes and hormones. He initially sought treatment for this condition in July 2023 during a trip to the United States. The cost of his treatment is reported to be around 370 million Ugx.
Doctors have emphasized the urgency of Chameleone’s condition, warning that his recovery depends on overcoming his alcohol addiction. They have cautioned that if he doesn’t quit drinking, his health could deteriorate, potentially reducing his life expectancy to just two years. His family, fans, and the music community remain hopeful that, with their support, the iconic singer can turn his life around. Chameleone continues to be one of East Africa’s most influential musicians, beloved by millions.
